Ten Teenage Boys Rescued, Foreign National Arrested in Johannesburg Trafficking Operation

A 47-year-old foreign national was arrested in the Johannesburg CBD following a joint operation by Fox Security, JHB Metro Police (JMPD), SAPS Mondeor, and the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation’s Trafficking in Persons section. Ten teenage boys were rescued.

The operation began when JMPD officers on patrol in Mulbarton were alerted to eight half-naked teenage boys walking along Broad Street. The teenagers, identified as foreign nationals who could not speak English, informed officers that two more boys had been taken away in a blue VW Jetta.

The vehicle was intercepted, but the driver fled, leading to a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended on Commissioner Street with the arrest of the suspect and the rescue of the two additional half-naked teenagers.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 08 January 2025, facing charges of being an illegal immigrant and suspected trafficking in persons. Further investigations are underway.
