Three Arrested in Rustenburg for Hijacking and Explosives Possession

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Combating Unit arrested three Mozambican nationals at the Snake Park informal settlement near Rustenburg on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Acting on intelligence, officers first arrested two suspects, aged 19 and 30, for possessing a motor vehicle hijacked in the Bokamoso informal settlement in December 2025. The investigation led to a separate address in Snake Park, where a third suspect, aged 36, was apprehended and found in possession of explosives.

The three suspects are expected to appear before the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, on charges of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of explosives.
