On Thursday, 25 December 2025, at approximately 22:00, a rape was reported at a village under the Sebayeng policing area.
The victim, a 17-year-old female, stated she was at a local tavern with a friend when a 20-year-old male acquaintance asked her to speak with him outside. They walked to nearby open grounds where the suspect professed his love and demanded sex. After she refused, he allegedly took her cell phone and forced her to his residence, where he raped her.
The suspect’s mother entered the bedroom, found the victim crying, and was informed of the assault. The victim’s mother was notified, and police were contacted.
A rape case was opened. The victim received a medical examination and treatment at a local hospital. Police arrested the 20-year-old suspect.
The suspect will appear at the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 December 2025, charged with rape.
