Taxi Owner Arrested for Murder in Ga-Dikgale Dragging Death

Police have arrested a 37-year-old male taxi owner on a murder charge following an incident at a soccer ground in Ga-Dikgale.

The event occurred on Thursday, 25 December 2025, at approximately 16:12. Police reports state a 29-year-old soccer spectator was dragged by a vehicle.

Preliminary information indicates an argument among spectators led to the victim’s bag being placed in the suspect’s taxi. The victim pleaded for its return. The driver refused, drove off, and the victim attempted to block the vehicle. The victim fell, was knocked down, and dragged until the taxi stopped on the R81 road.

The victim was taken to a local clinic, then transferred to Mankweng Hospital, where he died from his injuries. His identity is withheld pending investigation.

Police have confiscated the involved taxi. The suspect is expected to appear in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 December 2025.
