Police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 67-year-old traditional healer at his Worcester Village homestead on Sunday afternoon.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 17:00 on December 21, 2025. Authorities were alerted to a male person lying with gunshot wounds at the location.
Upon arrival, officers were directed to a veranda where they found the victim, later identified as Michel Maanaso, lying unconscious with gunshot wounds. Preliminary information indicates that a family member discovered Maanaso wounded on the veranda upon arriving home. The individual then proceeded into the house and informed Maanaso’s grandmother, who was watching television, that her husband had been shot.
Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene, where Maanaso was declared dead. Police immediately commenced a preliminary investigation, which led to the recovery of a 9mm cartridge. The ballistic evidence will form a critical part of the ongoing investigation.
“The police in Maake Mopani District continue to leave no stone unturned in this matter,” a statement read. However, the suspects remain unknown at this stage, and the motive for the fatal shooting is still under investigation.
