On Saturday, 13 December 2025, Public Order Police Unit Bloemfontein acted on intelligence and searched an address at the corner of Hillcrest and De Vries Streets. The operation resulted in the discovery of 152 Mandrax tablets on a suspect.
During the arrest, community members gathered and intervened. The crowd threw stones and set dogs on the police officers, allowing the suspect to escape custody.
A case docket for Assault on a Police Official and Possession of Drugs has been opened at Heidedal Police Station. Police confirm the suspect remains at large and will be traced for arrest.
