A coordinated multi-unit police operation has led to the recovery of stolen property valued at approximately R150,000 and the arrest of five suspects, following a truck hijacking in Manenberg earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 09 December 2025, at approximately 08:00, when a Toyota Hino truck was hijacked in the Manenberg area. Prompt investigative work led members of the Harare SAPS, assisted by Metro Police, to recover the abandoned vehicle in Endlovini, Khayelitsha. However, the truck’s cargo had been removed.
Undaunted, authorities continued the search. Their persistence paid off when another suspicious Hino truck was identified and placed under surveillance. The tracking operation culminated at around 12:30, when the monitored truck was observed offloading the stolen goods at a wholesaler in Eersterivier.

In a swift takedown, members of the Makhaza SAPS Hijacking Team, together with Metro Police officers, moved in on the scene. They successfully arrested five individuals: four Zimbabwean nationals and one Bangladeshi national. The stolen goods, with an estimated value of R150,000, were seized on site.
The five suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be formally charged before appearing in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.
