In a swift operation on Tuesday, 09 December 2025, members of the Public Order Policing Unit arrested a 35-year-old foreign national for possession of and dealing in drugs at the Savanna Mall.
The arrest forms part of the South African Police Service (SAPS) intensified festive season operations, which are focused on dismantling gangs and disrupting drug trafficking networks. Police acted on a tip-off regarding suspicious individuals allegedly selling drugs in the vicinity of a Polokwane mall.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers identified a suspect matching the provided description. The man was found carrying a plastic bag containing narcotics. Upon noticing the police, he fled towards his vehicle, a white Ford Fiesta with Gauteng registration plates. In his attempt to escape, he collided with a delivery bakkie belonging to a nearby shop.

The suspect then abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. Police officers gave chase and swiftly apprehended him. A subsequent search of his residence on Taurus Avenue in Sterpark led to the discovery of Nyaope drugs.
The police confiscated a quantity of illicit substances, including Nyaope, crystal meth, and heroin.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 11 December 2025, to face charges of possession of and dealing in drugs.
Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
