In a swift operation fueled by community collaboration, Amersfoort Police have arrested two foreign nationals and recovered a stolen vehicle, leading to multiple charges.
The breakthrough occurred after police received critical information from the Rural Safety Partnership, a network within the local farming community. Acting immediately on the tip-off, officers operationalised the intelligence.
While patrolling the N11 Road towards Amersfoort, police members spotted a Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD-6 matching the description of a vehicle reported stolen in Pinetown during November 2025. The car was also being pursued by farmers from the Amersfoort area.
Upon realizing they were intercepted, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. A concerted chase ensued, with both police officers and farmers pursuing the individuals. The two suspects, aged 43 and 45, were successfully apprehended.
They face charges of possession of suspected stolen property and contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa.
The duo is scheduled for their first appearance at the Amersfoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 05 December 2025.
