A 44-year-old suspect is in custody after being arrested by Siyabuswa Police in the early hours of Friday morning for the possession of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R110,000.
The arrest occurred on Friday, 28 November 2025, at approximately 04:00 am. According to a police report, officers were conducting a routine patrol along the R568 Road, travelling from Maphotla towards Siyabuswa, when their attention was drawn to a white Nissan NP 200 bakkie.
The vehicle, which bore Gauteng registration number plates, allegedly failed to stop, leading to a high-speed chase. Police officials successfully cornered and apprehended the suspect.
Upon searching the bakkie, members discovered two containers filled with a white powder, suspected to be crystal meth. The substances were concealed inside several bags within the vehicle.
In addition to the drug seizure, the white Nissan NP 200 driven by the suspect was also confiscated as part of the ongoing police investigation.
The male suspect is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 December 2025, to face charges of possession of illegal substances.
