Suspect Arrested for Drug Possession in Witbank, R38k in Drugs Seized

A 36-year-old man is expected to appear in court today after a coordinated police operation led to his arrest for drug possession on Tuesday.

The arrest was made on the afternoon of Tuesday, 25 November 2025, during a patrol conducted by the SAPS Anti-Hijacking Unit and the Middelburg K9 Unit in the Witbank area.

While patrolling along Diederichs Street, officers noticed a silver BMW with Gauteng registration plates parked in a manner that raised their suspicions. The positioning of the vehicle prompted the members to approach it and conduct a search.

Upon searching the car, which had one occupant, the units discovered a quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of R38,000.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest on a charge of possession of drugs. He is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Witbank Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, 26 November 2025.
