A coordinated police operation in the Ottery area led to the seizure of an Uzzi semi-automatic weapon and a significant quantity of ammunition on Saturday night.
According to authorities, members deployed to the Grassy Park policing precinct acted on received information about a firearm located at a premises on George Way. Upon conducting a search of the property, officers discovered the Uzzi semi-automatic weapon along with 99 rounds of ammunition.
An adult male was subsequently arrested at the scene for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be formally charged before his appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court.
