South African Police Ramp Up Security with Explosive Sweeps Ahead of G20 Summit

As South Africa prepares to host world leaders for the upcoming G20 Summit, a comprehensive security operation is underway, led by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

With the eyes of the world set to turn to the nation, SAPS members are already deployed on the ground, tasked with the critical mission of ensuring the safety of every movement, route, and vehicle associated with the high-profile event.

The extensive security preparations moved into a detailed phase today as the SAPS Explosives Unit conducted meticulous sweeps of the official convoys. The operation utilized highly trained K9 unit teams alongside specialized detection equipment to identify and prevent any potential threats.

This proactive sweep forms a key part of the SAPS’s broader, multi-layered security strategy. The overarching plan is designed to safeguard the entire summit, ensuring the protection of both the nation and its international guests.

The G20 Summit is scheduled to bring together leaders from the world’s largest economies, and the South African government has emphasized that security is its highest priority.
