A 52-year-old man, Sinki Lukas Msiba, has been remanded in custody after appearing in the Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, on charges of impersonating a police officer.
Msiba’s arrest occurred on Tuesday evening, 18 November 2025, when he arrived at the Bloemhof police station. He introduced himself as a Colonel from Pretoria and allegedly requested transport to Bultfontein, claiming his vehicle had broken down in Warrenton.
According to police, vigilant members on duty became suspicious, questioned Msiba, and conducted a preliminary investigation. They subsequently established that the accused was not a police officer and placed him under immediate arrest.
The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner of the North West, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, commended the officers for their alertness. “The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner… commended the police for their vigilance, which led to the arrest,” a statement read.
Msiba has been remanded in custody for further investigation and is scheduled to reappear in the Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 08 December 2025.
