The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the hefty sentencing imposed on a 48-year-old man convicted of raping and sexually abusing minors.
On Wednesday, 19 November 2025, the Groblersdal Regional Court handed down a life term imprisonment sentence for the rape charges, with a further additional eight years for sexual assault. The offences were committed during 2016 and 2017 in the Dennilton policing area, falling within the Sekhukhune District.
The successful prosecution was the result of a thorough investigation led by Sergeant Pebetse Maile of the Groblersdal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS) unit, who was assigned to the case.
Lieutenant General Hadebe praised the work of the investigative team and the court’s ruling, stating that the sentence sends a strong message about the severe consequences of such crimes against the most vulnerable in society.
