A 63-year-old man from Paballong Village has been arrested and charged with the alleged rape of an 8-year-old girl from the same community. The arrest, which occurred over the weekend, was initiated after the victim’s school alerted the child’s mother.
According to the allegations, the incident came to light on Monday, 11 November 2025. At approximately 16:00, the 37-year-old mother of the girl was informed by her daughter’s teachers that the child had been sexually violated. It is reported that the young girl first confided in her friends about the assault, who then brought the matter to a teacher’s attention. The teacher subsequently informed the biological mother, who immediately reported the case to the local police.
Authorities further allege that this was not an isolated incident, but the second time the suspect had violated the child.
The suspect, who is reportedly a local ‘Reverend,’ was formally charged on Friday, 14 November 2025. He made his first court appearance at the Tseki Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 November 2025. The accused is expected to apply for bail on 24 November 2025.
The case has been registered as rape, and police investigations are ongoing.
