Two to Appear in Court After Being Found with Suspected Stolen Meat

Two men are scheduled to appear in the Douglas Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 November 2025, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen meat.

The suspects, aged 34 and 38, were arrested after police allegedly found them in possession of fresh meat they could not account for.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at approximately 16:45. Officers were conducting routine patrols on Long Street in Campbell when their attention was drawn to two men carrying bags.

The police proceeded to question the pair about the contents of their bags. Upon failing to receive a satisfactory response, the members conducted a search. The search allegedly revealed a quantity of fresh meat in one of the bags.

When requested to provide proof of purchase, the suspects were unable to produce any documentation or a clear explanation. Following further investigation, the two men then led the officers to a nearby municipal grazing camp.

At the camp, authorities discovered the remains of a recently slaughtered sheep, including its head, intestines, hooves, and skin.

Both suspects were subsequently placed under arrest and formally charged with possession of suspected stolen meat. Their court appearance is set for Monday.
