Operation Shanela II Apprehends Attempted Murder Suspect Hiding at Army Base

In a targeted operation aimed at curbing rampant gang violence, members of the national anti-crime initiative, Operation Shanela II, arrested a 28-year-old suspect in Makhaza on Saturday, 15 November 2025.

The high-density operation was launched following intelligence received by the deployed members. The information indicated that a person of interest in an attempted murder case was seeking refuge at a nearby army base.

The suspect is alleged to have been involved in a recent attempted murder incident that took place on Spine Road. Acting on the tip-off, Operation Shanela II members located and apprehended the 28-year-old man at the military facility.

Upon his arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of a revolver. A further examination of the weapon revealed it contained three empty cartridges. According to police reports, it is alleged that the suspect had removed the firearm and the cartridges from the scene of the Spine Road crime.
