A 20-year-old female learner has been arrested by the Lebowakgomo Police in connection with a violent incident at a Secondary School in Seleteng Village, where a 19-year-old male learner was doused with boiling water.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 26 October 2025, at approximately 04:30. According to police reports, the learners were camping at the school premises as part of preparations for their upcoming final examinations.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident began when the suspect approached the victim, who was asleep inside a classroom. She allegedly accused him of touching her private parts. The complainant reportedly denied the allegations.
After this initial confrontation, the suspect left the room. However, she later returned and poured the boiling water on the male learner.
The victim sustained serious burn injuries from the assault. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, where he remains admitted under medical care.
Following a thorough investigation, the 20-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Friday, 31 October 2025. She has been charged with Assault with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).
The suspect is scheduled to make her first appearance before the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 03 November 2025. Police officials have confirmed that their investigations into the matter are continuing.
