Colchester Woman Arrested for Allegedly Manufacturing and Selling Dagga-Infused Sweets

A 54-year-old woman is set to appear in the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court following her arrest on charges of dealing in drugs and the unlawful cultivation of dagga for the purpose of sale.

The arrest occurred after police discovered a substantial dagga plantation and a sophisticated operation for manufacturing dagga-coated confectioneries at her residential property in Colchester.

According to police reports, the breakthrough came while officers were conducting crime prevention patrols along the N2 National Road near Colchester. They noticed suspicious activity at a house on Long Market Street and proceeded to approach the premises. Upon receiving permission to search the property, members made a significant discovery.

In the yard, they found a dagga plantation. Inside the house, an operation was uncovered, complete with what appeared to be a manufacturing process for producing labelled and packaged dagga-laced sweets.

Authorities confiscated a large quantity of dagga-infused edibles, including fudge, chocolates, and jelly-gummy bubble-gum. The seizure also included 381.4 grams of loose dagga, two clock humidity scales, and an undisclosed amount of cash. The estimated street value of the confiscated items is approximately R50,000.

The female homeowner was arrested on the spot.
