A manhunt by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Musina has led to the arrest of one suspect following a brazen armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred this past weekend. The incident took place on Saturday, 04 October 2025, near the Musina Mall.
According to police reports, the event unfolded at approximately 10:58 when a 32-year-old man was driving towards the mall. His path was suddenly blocked by a silver Mercedes-Benz. Two armed men emerged from the vehicle and forced their way into the complainant’s car.
The suspects compelled the victim to move to the middle seat, while one of the assailants took control of the wheel. They then drove the complainant to the Haper area. There, the men searched him and stole R50,000 in cash.
The ordeal concluded when a second Mercedes-Benz arrived on the scene. The suspects transferred to the new vehicle and fled, abandoning the complainant and his car near the airport in the Haper area.
Following the incident, police immediately initiated a manhunt. Their efforts led to a breakthrough on Sunday, 05 October 2025, at around 10:00. One male suspect was apprehended on the N1 road near the Musina Mall. The age of the arrested individual is still to be confirmed.
Authorities confirmed that the two other suspects involved in the crime remain at large. Police investigations are ongoing.
The arrested suspect is scheduled to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 07 October 2025, to face formal charges.
