Police Hunt Suspects After Caretaker Murdered in Home Invasion

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has activated a multi-disciplinary team to hunt down suspects involved in a brutal house robbery and the murder of a 56-year-old male caretaker at a residence in Polokwane.

The gruesome discovery was made on the morning of Wednesday, 24 September 2025.

According to a preliminary police report, the victim was last seen alive on the afternoon of Friday, 19 September 2025, by a co-worker.

“The circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, “and a team of experienced investigators has been assembled to pursue all leads.”

The crime came to light this morning when the landlord arrived at the property at approximately 11:00. Upon his arrival, he found the gate slightly open, which was unusual. He proceeded to the main house, where he discovered the door wide open and property scattered inside.

A horrific scene awaited him further inside: the body of the caretaker was found lying in a pool of blood. The victim had been brutally stabbed and was tied up. The landlord immediately alerted the police and emergency services. Paramedics certified the victim dead at the scene.

At this stage, the suspects remain unknown and no arrests have been made. Police investigations are ongoing.
