According to her brother, who witnessed the incident, learners were waiting for a teacher to take over a lesson when some of them, including the deceased girl, stepped outside the classroom. The principal reportedly found them outside and ordered them to run around the schoolyard as discipline.
Her brother recounted that while running, he noticed a group of learners surrounding his sister, who had collapsed. He rushed to the staff room to seek help, but the principal allegedly instructed him to pour water on her, claiming she would wake up. Unfortunately, Amanda did not regain consciousness and was later pronounced dead.
