In a targeted operation early Thursday morning, the Makhaza Anti-Hijacking Team, working alongside Crime Intelligence, successfully disrupted drug trade activities in the Makhaza policing precinct. Acting on credible intelligence about a recent drug delivery, law enforcement officers raided two separate premises in Block 65, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics.
During the first raid, officers searched a residence and arrested a 48-year-old Nigerian national for drug dealing after uncovering 250 grams of tik (crystal meth) and two units of cocaine.
In a subsequent search at a second location, a 55-year-old man was taken into custody after authorities discovered another large stash of drugs, including 115 full mandrax tablets, six half mandrax tablets, seven quarter mandrax tablets, and 42 packets of tik.
Both suspects are expected to face charges related to drug dealing and will appear soon at the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court.
