President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared that individuals implicated in corruption, as alleged by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, must be held accountable. The President made these remarks during a media briefing before departing from Rio de Janeiro, where he attended the 17th BRICS summit.
Ramaphosa stated that he was previously unaware of the allegations but emphasized the seriousness of the matter, which involves both public security and adherence to the rule of law.
“I was not aware that this announcement was coming, but it is a matter I will address upon my return,” Ramaphosa said. “I will need to examine it closely and engage in thorough discussions with relevant parties before determining a clear way forward.”
