A house robbery and business burglary male suspect fatally wounded during a shootout with the police

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Botlokwa has opened a case of attempted murder and pointing of a firearm following a fatal shooting incident involving a male suspect linked to a house robbery and business burglary. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at approximately 20:30 in Sekakene village.

According to police reports, authorities received intelligence about male suspects traveling in a white Mazda motor vehicle. The suspects were allegedly in possession of stolen goods intended for sale in the area. Acting on this information, police operationalized a plan to locate the suspects.

The suspects were positively identified inside the white Mazda. As officers approached the vehicle, one male suspect abruptly exited and began fleeing on foot while firing shots at the police. In response, law enforcement retaliated, resulting in the suspect sustaining injuries to his upper body.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were immediately called to the scene, but the suspect was declared dead upon their arrival.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have urged anyone with additional information to come forward. Further updates will be provided as the case develops.
