The Inkosi Mhlabunzima Maphumulo House has confirmed that it is in contact with the grieving families of three young students who tragically lost their lives in a light aircraft crash.
The devastating incident occurred during Youth Month, a time meant to celebrate the potential and achievements of young people. Instead, the province mourns the loss of three bright and dedicated individuals who were poised to make significant contributions to the aviation and healthcare sectors.
The deceased have been identified as:

Ms Nqobile Biyela (23), a student pilot,

Mr Lulama “Lwazi” Msane (23), also a student pilot, and

Mr Siphesihle Buthelezi (20), a medical student.
In a statement, the Inkosi Mhlabunzima Maphumulo House expressed profound sorrow over the untimely deaths, extending deepest condolences to the bereaved families. “The pain experienced by mothers, families, friends, and schoolmates is unbearable,” the statement read.
The families have expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and messages of comfort from the people of KwaZulu-Natal. Authorities have urged the public to continue demonstrating Ubuntu—compassion and solidarity—toward those affected by this tragedy.
Officials from the provincial leadership, along with Traffic Anchor Ayanda Msweli, are coordinating with relevant stakeholders to provide further assistance to the families during this difficult time.
