Robertson police members deployed to combat crime responded to a complaint of a business robbery in Reitz Street, Robertson on Monday, 17 July 2023.
Upon their arrival at the crime scene at around 10:00, they found the body of an unknown man who sustained a gunshot wound.
The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel.
Another suspect who sustained serious injuries owing to gunshots was found close to the deceased.
The police members confiscated two firearms with ammunition found on the scene.
Two of the suspects fled the scene in a motor vehicle.
Information gathered on the crime scene suggested that the suspects committed a business robbery and when confronted shot and injured a 35-year-old man. A security officer responded to the gunshot he heard and ran in the direction of a local shop. When he approached the shop, the suspects fired gunshots at him, upon which he then returned fire, fatally wounding one suspect and injuring another.
The police shared the information with their colleagues relating to the two of the suspects who fled the scene.
The commitment of the local police members with the assistance of the community members resulted in the arrest of the two suspects who fled the scene close to Robertson SAPS.
The three males between the ages of 33 and 42 were arrested and detained on charges of business robbery, attempted murder and the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Once charged the trio are expected to make a court appearance in the Robertson Magistrate court on the mentioned charges.
