Argument leads to murder, suspect arrested, Jouberton

The Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Commissioner, Major General Suzette Pretorius applauded police in Jouberton for their swift reaction that resulted in the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder of George Mohau Lencoe (57) in Extension 1, Jouberton.

Initial information indicated that Lencoe and the suspect, Letlhogonolo Makolometsa (28), had an argument on Sunday afternoon, 9 July 2023.

That was after Makolometsa allegedly urinated in front of the Lencoe’s yard.

The suspect, who was driving a white Suzuki Bakkie, bumped the victim and left the scene.

Lencoe was declared dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).

Consequently, Makolometsa handed himself over to the police shortly after the incident.

He appeared before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Cour and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance before the same court on Tuesday, 18 July 2023.
